More advanced moves can be used to turn the cube more effiently but they aren't important now, and can be learned after you know how to solve the cube.
In the beginner method which you will learn, the rubiks cube will be sold layer by layer.
The cube consists of 12 edge pieces, 8 corner pieces, and 6 center pieces.
The center pieces of the cube never move, they are always in the same place and mark the color the side is supposed to be.
Since the center pieces are always in the same place, the certain colours each other will always be the same. For example, the white center piece will always be on the side opposite of yellow, as red will be from orange, and same for blue and green.
